May was a huge month for corporate and charity shows. A stack of shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and regional areas of Australia. She obviously doesn’t know it, but Taylor Swift alone raised over $80k for charities, well, my paintings of her did anyway.
At the Real Estate Institute of Australia gala dinner in Hobart, I had Australia’s Auctioneer of the year, auction her for $15k, which is the current record.
When I was first asked to paint Taylor, I was thinking why? Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong – most collectors are middle aged or older men/women – they are buying it for their daughters or grandkids! She’s now my favourite to do onstage and most of the time I’m painting her in the gold reveal.
