Brad Blaze is a world-renowned artist and entertainer. He has combined his talents with showmanship.Brad Blaze may just be the fastest painter in the world. He has enthralled audiences across Australia, Asia, United Arab Emirates and The United States performing at large gala dinners with guests including government ministers, celebrities and the social elite.
At such events he has painted two prime ministers and some of the world’s leading sportsmen ‘live’ at events including Tiger Woods (PGA Masters), Robert Allenby (golf), Sir Ian Botham (cricket), Shane Warne (cricket), James Hird (AFL), Cameron Smith (NRL), Nico Rosberg (F1 Driver) and celebrities Eric Bana (Movie Star: Black Hawk Down, Hulk) and many more raising over $500,000 in the past year for charity.
Brad spent the beginnings of his career working his ‘way up the corporate ladder’ in an international finance company. On his way to and from work on long train journeys he would sketch other passengers without them knowing. His passion for art eventually overcame him and by the year 2000 became a caricature artist working at events and having artwork published in magazines and newspapers.
In 2005 he developed his very own unique show and is testament to the mantra of following your passion in life.
THREE THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT BRAD BLAZE
1. Do you get nervous before a show?
“I remember driving to my first show and my hands were shaking so much I could hardly hold the steering wheel. It took a few years to be totally comfortable on stage. One of the great experiences I had was in Fiji at an event called “Showcase” back in 2008. There were four international acts performing at Fiji’s largest festival and I performed 16 times all to an audience of two to three thousand people each show. I think that experience really knocked any nerves right out of me.
2. Who is your favourite person to paint?
“I am a big 80′s music fan, so I would have to say Bono from U2. Once that 80′s music goes on, I’m pumped! I think it shows too, I paint it super fast and reckon I could paint that one with my eyes shut.”
3. Why do you enjoy what you do so much?
“Performing the shows is like a constant adventure, it’s almost surreal. I’m so lucky to have travelled the world performing. Also, I won’t even get started about the charity work, but to raise so much money ($500,000) in one year, from entertainment and paintings, well, it’s a great feeling.
